~ A Quick Peek at the Laptop Market ~

A few days ago, my friend told me she's getting a laptop from Best Buy for about $430. I have a secret hate for Best Buy. I think they are just there to rip people off. But, I took a look at it real quick. It has 4 gig memory and 250 gig hard drive. It looks decent for less than $500. And she said it's for her parents to surf the web, so it seems fine.

I haven't looked into buying computers since I bought my Mac Book Pro like 4 years ago so I don't even know what's a good processor speed. I don't think I will ever buy a PC again. I love my Mac. People ask me why and I say "Why do you love your Louis Vuitton purse?". To me, it just feels like a better machine. I don't have to worry about viruses. I love its built-in camera, key board that lights up, sleek look. I love how I don't have to deal with the 1001 random crap that comes with Windows that makes a PC spend 10 minutes to start up. My Mac even after 4 years, starts up in about a minute. It used to be like 15 seconds. Is it worth double the price of a PC? That's up for you to decide. But I have my eye on this one as my next machine...

Just a regular Mac Book. It's under $1000 and I think it's good enough. Of course I want a Mac Book Pro, but for what I do, I don't need it. But gosh I want it :)

So, I posted about these laptops on my Facebook and my super cool geeky friend basically said I am a bad friend because "Friends don't let friends buy crappy HP laptop with Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor T4300". I lost geek points with him :( He found this awesome deal for a laptop to show me how bad the Best Buy one is. He found one on ZipZoomFly.com. (Click on the picture to see/buy this laptop)

According to him, it has "better processor, better video card. It comes with a windows 7 upgrade cd. Also has a internal webcam and 500gb of storage and hdmi port". Its only $20 more and you may get cash back through Microsoft/Bing cashback. It is an awesme deal. Even I am tempted, but as I type up this post on my Mac, I just can't bring myself to buy a PC :)

But, if you want a decent laptop, just for school work/web surfing/editing pictures, this is a good laptop to get. Christmas is coming up! This would make an awesome gift for someone you love. This and maybe this bracelet from my shop :D

I'm not secretive at all with my hate for Best Buy, I tell anyone who will listen how bad they will be ripped off if they shop there. :)

When I bought mine two years ago, I originally ordered a Dell, but there was a problem with it and their customer service was so atrocious I sent it back and bought a Toshiba, which I've been very happy with. :)

Dells are dirt cheap when you find the right sale. If you're handy with some basic computer work you can do most of the repair work yourself. All dells come with service manuals you can find online. The ASUS is nice. Its also lighter than the HP and it has the macbook style keyboard that many people seem to like. To me the ASUS is the sexier machine and for the extra $20 you get a lot more features and computing power. What did your friend up doing? Did she go with Best Buy?

My friend just ended up with the best buy one. She didn't feel like ordering online. She said she'll return it if it's really bad.
