This past sunday was the grand opening of Georgetown Cupcake in Bethesda. Never heard of Georgetown Cupcake??? It's like the best cupcakes ever! If you ever go to the one in Georgetown on the weekends, you will see a line of people eagerly waiting to get their hands on those cute cupcakes!
For their grand opening, they were giving out free cupcakes! A few of my friends are big fans, so we all headed down to check out the event. There was a long line!
I brought my DSLR just for fun. Look at my #1 fan, wearing a special Stardust bracelet that was custom made for her. It has those bling bling Hello Kitty charms that I am selling in my supplies shop.
Then we pretended we were doing Japanese street fashion. Kawaii ne?
After about 45 minutes, we finally got to the door!!
Look at how happy she was!
Ok, it was very hard to decide on a flavors and take pictures at the same time...so some of these came out a little bit blurry :(
I think this picture came out the clearest!
The coconut one looks so fun!!
Look at all those!!! We got key lime, vanilla, chocolate 2, pumpkin spice, mint chocolate, red velvet, and peanut butter fudge.
We had to use forks to eat them! We all shared and tried out the different flavors. Everyone seems to like the red velvet. But to me, it was just ok. Key lime was good because it wasn't as sweet as the others. My friend absolutely loved the pumpkin spice one. They were all good though, just in different ways.
Look how red the red velvet is!
Ok, so 15 minutes later......all done.
I took one home for my fiance. He didn't think it was all that. I told him it was $3 for a cupcake and he was like "WTF". He thinks it's too sweet. To me, the frosting is not as sweet as the frosting on cupcakes at most bakeries. For some reason, it's a little salty to me too, like cream cheese.
Also note that if you want your cupcakes in a box, you need to pay for for the box. I just took it home in the paper bag. It survived the trip just fine. But, my friends walked a couple blocks in the summer with a box and the frosting just melted into yuckiness.
All in all, I think I was happier seeing all the cute cupcakes stacked up and all those pretty pink boxes than actually eating them. It's definitely good cupcake though, but I am not really a dessert person. Definitely recommend going with a few friends so you can each get a different flavor and share!

Those cupcakes look nice, but you should check out the couple famous cupcakes in LA if you ever come out to the west coast. The cupcakes in LA would put those to shame.
